First Turn
When the game begins, 3 goal cards will be revealed, each player is dealt a hand of 3 mushroom cards and must place their first seedling in one of the central 4 slots starting with the first player. If there are unclaimed slots, those are filled with place holders and cannot be played on.
Placing First Seedling Strategy
The two factors that can impact your decision are the mushrooms in your hand and to a lesser extent, the goal cards.
if there is a mushroom you want to play that takes an certain color of activation token, it is advantageous to place your first seedling next to starting mushrooms that refreshes that color of token. Additionally it is generally good practice to have access to a variety of different colored mushrooms to ensure you are able to effectively use your activation tokens, though exceptions exist.
